Welcome to La Vida Professional Conflict Resolution Center! La Vida translates to “the life” with the intention to “live life.” La Vida is a private conflict resolution practice located in Ruckersville, VA, servicing Charlottesville, Greene, Madison, and Orange. Services are provided by Bina Patel, Ph.D.

Dr. Patel has a doctoral degree in Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping Analysis, specializing in conflict management, anti-bullying resolution strategies, conflict resolution training, and emotional intelligence to all audiences including children, teenagers, and adults.

Our emotions can get the best of us. When we become blindsided by our emotions, we become defensive, angry, resentful, and sometimes hateful to all those involved. Dr. Patel knows that emotions sit at the surface, above our hidden issues. What is really going underneath our pain, hurt, and anger is fear, which encompasses the truth of the issues. Emotions, therefore, can impact our ability to communicate effectively and think rationally. If you find yourself feeling angry, upset, scared or avoiding certain situations or people, bullied and not sure how to deal with the “bully,” feeling stressed, or simply don’t know how to confront the conflict, conflict management can help!

La Vida provides conflict coaching by applying the techniques of emotional intelligence, which help with recognizing ourselves when in an emotional state. Whether the state of the emotion is happy, sad, or angry, being cognizant of our reactions to the emotions that we feel can help us regulate our emotions. Self awareness and self recognition can help us see for ourselves specifically, why the issue is bothering us so much, so that there is conflict. I incorporate emotional intelligence as a component of conflict management that empowers visitors to build long term healthy relationships.

I also provide conflict management coaching for couples and/or family mediation. I have a strong background and experience conducting family mediations and coaching to help families who are just starting out, experiencing life changes or attempting to overcome external conflicts that impact the relationship.

In addition, La Vida’s services in conflict management extend to children, teenagers and adults experiencing gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria involves a conflict between a person’s physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify. People with gender dysphoria may often experience significant distress and/or problems functioning associated with this conflict between the way they feel and think of themselves (referred to as experienced or expressed gender) and their physical or assigned gender. Dr. Patel understands this internal conflict and utilizes conflict management to assist!

Social science studies have proven that conflict management techniques are successful with facilitating communication between two or more parties in disagreement, specifically to discover the hidden issues that lay beneath the surface. It’s very important that your concerns are heard and respected. Whether this is your first time or third time seeking conflict coaching, you are taking the positive steps needed to help you manage your life more effectively. Feel free to contact Dr. Patel with any questions you have about your situation, conflict resolution in general, and whether this would be a good time to consider beginning conflict management services.
